We ride the brand-new 121ci monster.

Yes, I know that is a deliberately inflammatory assertion made in full knowledge of the several excellent contenders in the category of big bore tarmac tourers.

Some of you will also surely argue the FLTRXSE is just Milwaukee finally catching up to the likes of Honda’s legendary Goldwing, Indian’s Roadmaster or BMW’s brutish K 1600 GTL. And if you’ve been reading my last few stories, you’ll know my leaning towards America’s favourite lump of heavy metal.

All that aside, let us try and be as objective as possible with our review of this landmark All American Tourer.

The thing that first drew me to this $64k+ machine was the introduction of the new 121ci (1977cc) Milwaukee-Eight engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT). We all remember the fanfare back in 2018 when this clean slate powerplant in 'entry-level' 107ci form was introduced in the Softail and Touring range.

Even though the ninth generation of Harley’s stalwart "big twin" engine incorporated numerous modern enhancements, like the use of eight valves instead of four, it retained pushrod actuation and air cooling, although fan-assisted oil cooling supplements the air in top range CVO models.

Notice the oversized airbox on the new 121ci Milwaukee-Eight (supplied)

The Motor Company quietly released details of the 121ci power plant back in June 2023 as well as enhancements to the CVO Road Glide which was then slated as the debut model to feature the new unit. Despite what you may read elsewhere, the 121 VVT unit is available in the Road Glide CVO (FLTRXSE) - which was our test bike - and for 2024, the CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE). Yes, CVO Road Glide ST (FLTRXSTSE) is also listed in the MY24 lineup. And I’ve confirmed all three 121-equipped models are listed on the Harley-Heaven dealer website although the ST features the extra special High Output (HO) non-VVT version tuned to produce 94kW and 193 Nm - H-D’s most powerful factory-fitted engine. Are you keeping up?

Even with the fancy new VVT, the eight valves are still pushrod activated and advanced or retarded with the camshaft timing adjusted infinitely through a potential range of 40 degrees of crankshaft rotation (20 degrees of camshaft rotation).

According to the factory bulletin, “The Milwaukee-Eight 121 VVT V-Twin engine produces 86 kW at 4500 RPM and 189 Nm torque at 3000 RPM.”

It goes on to mention “optimized liquid-cooled cylinder heads with a new cooling system and a new intake tract. A single counter-balancer is tuned to cancel undesirable vibration.”

The aforementioned “cooling system” actually involves various electric pumps and fans aiding the coolant solution which first attends to the hotter rear cylinder head, then to the front cylinder head, and then to a new fan-assisted radiator. Yes, I did notice the difference, especially when pulling up after a spot of spirited riding.

Also from my test ride and from factory press material, I can tell you other aspects of the Road Glide are enhanced for 2024.

The cylinder heads have been reworked and besides the new cooling system, combustion chambers are reshaped with oval intake ports, low-profile intake valve seats and an enhanced ‘squish band’ (look that up if you need to), which together, increase intake air velocity and tumble and accelerate combustion to improve performance and fuel economy. The compression ratio is increased to 11.4:1 from 10.2:1 and the new airbox has 50 per cent more volume than the previous ‘heavy breather’.

The sharknose fairing takes on new life with a sculpted silhouette, fully integrated LED lighting, and a new windshield design. The intervention of the VVT is not as pronounced as some automotive equivalents where it tends to ‘bite’. Instead, it’s in constant, almost imperceptible adjustment, delivering theoretically ideal timing for any given rev range and governed, not by revs, but by oil pressure. They weren’t very effective, and didn’t offer much protection. Technology has improved in leaps and bounds, and today, we have such things as ‘Smart Helmets’.

One of the latest players in the motorcycle helmet field are Forcite Helmets, with their latest product, the Forcite MK1S.

This is a high-end, premium piece of equipment.

So let’s address the elephant in the room. This information is normally held for the end of reviews, but I feel that you should know up front as to what you are looking at. The current retail price for a Forcite MK1S helmet, with all the included technology, is $1399. This is comparable to other high-end helmets, such as the Shoei GT-AIR3, which retails around $1300.00-$1400.00, and that’s before you add the intercom tech for an additional $600.00, plus the price of additional action camera.

Forcite Helmets is an Australian company, and the helmets are assembled in Australia from materials and components sourced from overseas. Forcite Helmets are located in the Sydney Motorsports Complex at Eastern Creek. Forcite Helmets’ latest offering is the MK1S.

The MK1S has a carbon fibre shell, and is available in either a glossy or matt finish. There are two shell sizes, with various sized paddings to customize the fit, covering sizes XS to L, and the second shell size is for XL, and an in-between size of L/XL. They’re designed for an ‘Intermediate Round, head, and the sizing is ‘generous’. My personal helmet is a Shoei Neotech II, and I found the fit of the MK1S to be quite comfortable, with no discernible pressure points. The helmet cradled my head nicely, very similar to my Shoei, and there was a pleasant firmness to the cheek pads. The lining material is very premium and soft to touch, and, as expected in a helmet in this class, the linings are removable and washable. There are also Emergency Release tabs should the unthinkable happen. The helmet has a drop-down sun visor, and there are optional main visors available in clear, smoked and iridium. There are the usual ventilation systems, with vents at the forehead and top, and large exhaust vents at the back.

So, what’s in the box? There is a Certificate of Authenticity that is signed by the person who assembled your helmet, and all cables and chargers needed to keep the technology charged. The helmet and controller are charged from the same charging unit. There’s a premium Pinlock, and an in-depth instruction manual. It’s highly recommended that the owners read and understand this manual as there’s a lot to the integrated technology. Obviously the helmet and a premium helmet bag are also included.

What about the technology?

There’s a camera mounted in the chin-bar, with the ‘wishbone’ centreplate frame for the camera making for a stronger chin-bar. The camera shoots at 1080P resolution at 60 frames per second. This IS high definition, and is very acceptable for general use. It’s not quite ‘cinematic’, but if you’re into that sort of videography, I would hazard a guess that you already have the appropriate equipment. For those who partake in the odd track day, you can also use this camera on the track.

The speakers in the helmet are Harman/Kardon, and are upgradable to Master & Dynamic speakers. I didn’t get the opportunity to sample the sounds from the speakers, but I personally have Harman/Kardon speakers in my car and find them to be very good. The Master & Dynamic speakers are said to offer more bass response and some better clarity.

Of course there’s an App! The App links with the Heads Up Display (HUD), and other helmet functions, to show various road hazards and issues, along with GPS turn directions. The HUD is located on the chin-bar, and uses a combination of coloured LEDs to give various information. The Forcite App communicates with the WAZE App to allow these hazards and directions to be given to the rider. I’ve been told that there is no need to separately download the WAZE App.

The MK1S features integrated Bluetooth technology, however, there is no direct Rider to Rider/Pillion communication via Bluetooth or Mesh…..as yet. Rider to Rider communication can be conducted via your mobile phones that are paired to your own helmets, and via the Discord App where multiple riders can be connected, however this involves available phone, and internet reception. I will admit that I found this omission a little disappointing for a helmet in this class. I’ve been unable to find anything on the Forcite website to say whether this is something that may be coming sometime soon.

One very unique feature with this helmet is Forcite’s ‘Complimentary Insurance Policy’. If your helmet is damaged, or sustains an impact, such as falling of your motorcycle’s seat, the technology in your helmet can be transferred into a new shell for a fraction of the cost of a new helmet. Forcite’s engineers will check the electronics, run some tests, and where possible, install them into a new shell. A very worthy service.

So, I suppose the question is, would I buy one? It is a very beautiful helmet, it looks and feels very premium, and is well worth the money being asked. My head is worth at least $1399.00, and I have no qualms about spending that sort of money on a helmet, but there are a couple of issues that don’t make this helmet suitable for me….and please note that these are my personal opinions. The lack of Rider to Rider/Pillion Bluetooth/Mesh communication is a non-starter for me. I ride frequently with my wife, and we have always had direct communication with each other, she is my co-rider, and second pair of eyes, so that level of communication, for me, is vital. The other issue, for me, is that the helmet is a solid full-face, necessitated by the camera placement. I ride with a flip-face helmet, which is my preference. If these things are not important to you, then I would definitely recommend this helmet to you, it’s just not suitable for MY needs.

Lastly, I want to offer my thanks and appreciation to Clint and the crew at Brisan Motorcycles at 250 Maitland Road, Islington (www.brisans.com.au), and especially Lachy from the Spares and Parts team for taking the time to show me this helmet, and run through all of its features. Thanks a lot guys.

Enjoy Your Ride,

Review by Paul Primmer
rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-34761574847101032742024-01-05T00:47:00.001+11:002024-01-05T00:47:21.402+11:00Bimmer About Town: BMW C400X

BMWs new 350cc urban scooter is a lively and stable steed for getting around town. Harley-Davidson first used the name in 1977 to describe a “factory custom” variant of the venerable FX Super Glide with alloy wheels, twin front discs, extended forks with a 32° rake and a low 660mm seat height.

The then-new FXS 1200 Shovelhead was an instant hit and continued with the Dyna chassis and larger 96ci and 103ci Twin-Cam engines. It was also one of the models that transitioned, if in name only, to the totally redesigned Softail lineup in 2018. Back then, FXLR came with the spanking new 107ci Milwaukee-Eight, the same engne shared with Breakout and pretty much every other bike in the range right up to CVO.

Well, we all know how that has changed and you can thank the loud chorus of customer feedback that has seen the 114ci powerplant become the engine of choice in many new models like Street Bob, Fat Boy and Heritage along with Low Rider S.

To follow that famous edict, ‘Ain’t no substitute for cubic inches’, Low Rider S (FXLRS) now joins Breakout (FXBR) and Street Glide (FLHXST) with a factory-fitted 117ci (1917cc) Milwaukee-Eight as part of the new ST (Sport Touring) nomenclature.

So, the question really is: “What is the new ST all about?” Well, it’s the ‘T’ that holds the clue.

Low Rider ST (FXLRST) can be quickly identified by the new ‘80s-inspired, frame-mounted fairing and the high-cut 50L panniers which it shares with Sport Glide (FLSB), but sit slightly higher.

Riding position is also slightly different. According to Harley’s lead designer, Dais Nagao, “While Low Rider S is a little more of a relaxed cruiser, with ST I wanted riders to be in charge of the bike sitting on top of the bike rather than sitting in the bike.”

Paul Weiss, H-D product development lead, was somewhat more forthright, saying “this is a true lightweight bagger. It's got the performance punch you know that 125 foot pounds (170Nm) of torque and also comfortable on the long haul. The bike comes standard with cruise control and we wanted the tall suspension in the rear and that was by using a 56-millimeter shock. We did shift the saddle bags vertically about two inches compared to the Sport Glide and you can remove them in seconds.”

We took the ST on an extended, 3-day test to the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia and found, among other things, that the brutish 117 was an effortless tourer, gobbling tarmac like no tomorrow. While it may not have the celebrated long haul status of the likes of Road Glide, Street Glide and Road King, the FXLRST performed admirably, adding a more sporting flavour to long hours in the saddle albeit with some sacrifice in pillion comfort.

Even Harley sceptics were impressed, despite the bike’s 327kg weigh-in.

In something of a back-handed compliment, Wayne Vicko from MCNews wrote: “I got the same sort of enjoyment from riding this bike that I do from driving my old (Ferguson Tractor). I love my old Fergie. It’s hard to define why, but it’s simple, unkillable and you have to tune yourself in and work with it to make it work well. When I started to apply the same thinking to the Low Rider ST, I enjoyed it all the more.”

But don’t take our word for it. Head into your local H-D dealer and make up your own mind.

MORE: https://www.harley-davidson.com/au/en/motorcycles/low-rider-st.html

rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-84264182328521824552023-12-08T23:40:00.001+11:002023-12-08T23:40:29.730+11:00Motorcycle touring: Ticking Off Thailand
Lots of us have ridden all around the world but how many have done the Land of Smiles?

The notion of riding in SE Asia is not going to take most of us by surprise. How so? Well; the quality of the bikes (predominantly late model BMW GS) was the first thing I noticed and the obvious professionalism of the overall operation.

Run by local entrepreneur, Prasit Aphiphunya, from his base in Bangkok, Khun Prasit offers itineraries not only in his native Thailand, but also Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and a special one-way program to Lhasa, Tibet.

“We are an official partner of BMW Motorrad and I lead every ride personally to ensure trouble-free experience for our clients,” Khun Prasit tells me, “particularly when it comes to navigating the complexities of visas and border crossings throughout the region.”

Coping with Asian traffic can be a daunting affair, especially in built-up areas in places like India and Vietnam. While my riding experience may not be extensive, I have spent many hours on the roads of South East Asia and Thailand is something of a sanctuary both in terms of road culture and tarmac quality. I swear I heard more horn-honking leaving the taxi rank at Delhi airport than I did in two weeks in Bangkok.

My ‘sampler’ route took me on a three-day loop firstly south to the coast, then northwest to Kanchanaburi and a lap of the Sinakharin Dam National Park where near-deserted roads twist and turn through mountains and valleys before we crossed over by ferry Ban Tukkata, clearly a popular riding route going by the gallery of decals on the metalwork.

Normally riders will meet their guide and mounts well outside the city limits and conclude in the same way. Riding the Bangkok rush hour is not going to be anyone’s highlight and Khun Prasit has cleverly designed his routes to avoid this.

So if you are mulling over your next overseas ride with your restless mates, contact local rep and Ulysses Club member, David Reeves at Ride The World for info on the next departures beginning September 2024. No, we weren't embarking on donuts and somersaults on that hallowed surface, rather we were scooting around the concrete tunnels and access ramps in a scene not unlike a remake of Mission Impossible X.

You can read the intimate tech details on the model page here, but in short, the powerplant is an 8-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled parallel twin in 353 and 500cc variants.

Now, to clear up some confusion and answer some FAQs, the bike is not Indian-built. The Street 500 and 750s were, but they were discontinued in 2020 because - so we are told - the production process was uneconomical for the numbers produced, even though they were a best seller here in Australia. There is an Indian-built replacement, the single-cylinder X440, but at the time of writing at least, it is expressly for the Indian market, manufactured by Hero MotorCorp and shares no common componentry.

X500 in Dynamic Orange (H-D photo)

The new X-series specifications are impressive. Both the X350 and X500s boast Maxxis Supermaxx ST tires, mid-mount foot controls, six-speed transmissions, cable-actuated wet plate clutches with chain drive, dual front disc brakes and a single rear with ABS plus front and rear adjustable suspension.

Anyway, with the loss of the Street 500 (XG500), Harley-Davidson needed something to fill the LAMS void and - to make a long story short - the X350 and X500 were devised.

"The X series declares Harley's back in the new rider market," Keith Waddell, H-D Marketing Manager told us, "with a design that is distinctly Harley-Davidson that will build brand desirability for the new generation of riders. We want to dominate this segment and also create a pipeline to the larger Harley-Davidson range."

These two LAMS-approved motorcycles are the result of a cooperative venture between The Motor Company and Zhejiang QJmotor Co., Ltd, located in Wenling City, China. While QJmotor may not have Milwaukee's heritage, the company has been making two-wheeled machines since 1985 and produces millions annually and export worldwide. Since 2005, QJmotor have owned the Benelli brand.

Despite the shared mechanicals with other QJmotor brands, the bodywork and styling are uniquely Harley-Davidson. It's not a stretch to imagine the X350 as an homage to the earlier XR flat trackers, while the X500 does have a certain 'Sportsteresque' stance about it. While there are no-extra-cost colour options - Dramatic Black, Dynamic Orange, Supersonic Silver and Pearl White - I'll wager it's the orange that flies off the showroom floor.

Now, we're not going to get a full experience hurtling around the tunnels of Allianz Stadium, but from what I could gather, I found both machines nimble and easy to ride with crisp transmission and excellent ABS brakes. Project 33 marked Alfa Romeo's return to racing, led by the brand’s then President Giuseppe Eugenio Luraghi and by Carlo Chiti of Autodelta, the newly formed racing department. The time trial at Fléron, near Liège, was chosen for its debut. The driver was the chief tester at Autodelta, Teodoro Zeccoli. On March 12th, 1967, the 33 entered the world of competitions. And it scored an immediate victory, in the first in a long line of successes on the most prestigious circuits that would take it to the roof of the world, with victories in the Championship for Makes in 1975 and ’77.

1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

On the wave of sporting enthusiasm, Alfa Romeo decided to produce the 33 in a very limited edition for private individuals, as a custom-built car that combined the performance of the Tipo 33 racing car with comfort and drivability suitable for everyday use. The design was entrusted to Franco Scaglione, who put all his technical expertise and creative daring into the design of the 33 Stradale, resulting in a masterpiece where innovation in style blends with the quest for aerodynamics and functionality. The design of the 1967 33 Stradale, the quintessence of beauty in a car, is almost impossible to describe: its expressions were the balance of its forms, the purity of its lines, the elegance of its every detail. Between 1967 and 1969, only 18 specimens were produced, one of which is kept today at the Museum in Arese, making it an extremely rare piece much coveted by collectors. Six of these chassis were used to make prototypes, which anticipated two decades of automotive design: the Carabo (1968), the P33 Roadster GS (1968), the 33/2 Coupé Speciale (1969), the Cuneo (1971), the Iguana (1969), and the Navajo (1976). In short, the 33 Stradale is a legendary model that has marked not only the history of Alfa Romeo, but also that of Italian design.

Text source: Alfa Romeo press office
rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-13278057005788177232023-08-18T23:16:00.001+10:302023-08-18T23:16:08.285+10:30Ultimate Indonesian MotoGP Experience<p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; But by 1970, the British firm was defunct and declared bankrupt, leaving a joint venture facility in Madras to supply the single-cylinder 350cc Bullet.

The distinctive Royal Enfield, now a unit of India’s Eicher Motors, has hit a chord with heritage lovers and retro geeks resulting in the manufacturer rapidly expanding its production capacity and opening new double-shift plants around India, including Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, to bolster output from the original plant at Chennai. Despite a COVID-induced slump during 2019-20, total production is now regularly in excess of 80,000 units per month, placing it among the world’s top manufacturers

RELATED STORY: Royal Enfield: A blast from the past

WHAT’S NEW AT ROYAL ENFIELD

The departure of the Classic 500 from the range took many of us by surprise with that frame now relegated to 350cc trim. Thunderbird was also deleted, but RE continues to innovate with new and exciting developments for its growing league of followers.

Since our last series of tests, we’ve seen the arrival of the delightful 650 twins and the multi-purpose scram 411 for those looking for a dash of adventure with their commute.

But the hot news right now is the arrival of the sweet Hunter 350, a neat and naked 180kg urban runabout that should be a hit with younger and learner riders. Its agility and suitability for city and suburban streets are a given, so we threw down a challenge and took the little unit for a busy day among the twists and turns of Melbourne’s Yarra Ranges, aptly guided by local member, Peter Washington of Mountain Motorsports who has intimate knowledge of these serpentine roads.

Of course, we didn’t expect neck-snapping performance from the long-stroked 20hp J series Air/Oil Cooled, 349cc SOHC, yet with a little encouragement the ergonomically-optimised Hunter 350 could peddle respectably through the many tight sections without wringing its neck. The 27Nm of torque may not sound much, but if you keep the revs up and your eyes on the road, you won’t find yourself falling behind the pack.

Interestingly, the J Series 349cc SOHC EFI engine is a whole new device first seen in the smart Meteor in 2022, and not to be confused with the earlier 350s. With the addition of a balance shaft, it’s smoother and freer revving and comfortably sits on 110kmh/h highway speeds (but not much more). A single simple rotary dial combines LED display for essential data, but there’s no tacho.

Let’s not overthink the Hunter 350. It’s an absolutely fit-for-purpose bike and is sure to deliver tons of fun on a safe and predictable chassis - something we tired, wizened old blokes can sometimes overlook with our technical obsessions. Go on, ride one and tell me I’m wrong.

This story also appears in Autum 2023 issue of Ulysses Club Magazine, Riding On
rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-34044726444670681272023-02-09T12:39:00.001+11:002023-02-09T12:39:07.486+11:00Glide Path: 2023 sees the Harley-Davidson Road Glide in gleaming form

We review the mighty Road Glide for Bikesales.

To trace the evolution of the imperious Harley-Davidson Road Glide, we need to venture back to 1941 when Milwaukee launched the FL series of big-frame motorcycles.

Read the full story at bikesales.com.au

rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-90161850747536596752023-01-21T14:12:00.001+11:002023-02-25T12:27:11.347+11:00Harley-Davidson celebrates 120th Anniversary with limited edition models#webuilders #letsride #HD120

News straight from Milwaukee is that Harley-Davidson has kick-started a year of 120th-anniversary celebrations with the grand reveal of its 2023 fleet of motorcycles.

Arguably the most anticipated additions to the Harley-Davidson lineup for 2023 are the highly limited anniversary editions prepared for the momentous occasion. But not all motorcycle ‘gangs’ are about creating mayhem.

The pleasure of riding a motorcycle is a given, some might say ‘therapeutic’, and riding with friends of a like mind merely amplifies the ‘therapy’. Fun is infectious.

But let’s be clear, we’re not talking about outlaw ‘bikies’ in the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mould, but rather ‘bikers’. The latter term refers to those who ride for enjoyment either alone or with others, whether in an ad hoc group or a more formal club.

Motorcycle clubs in Australia formed pretty much as soon as the first motorcycles arrived here more than 100 years ago. As early as the 1920s, it was normal to see whole pages in the newspapers devoted to the social and event calendars of the various clubs with rides, races and picnics common.

So you have a motorcycle and are itching to ride, but have no one to ride with. Well, read on, and let’s see how you can find new friends and enjoy a ride at the same time.

Members of Adelaide's Motorcycle Society social club assemble for a Sunday ride.

‘The Shop Ride’

Sure, it's a marketing and customer relations ploy, but the ‘shop ride’ is a fun thing nevertheless, especially for new bike owners. You’ve just purchased your pride and joy and none of your friends share the same passion. They’re more interested in X-Box or footy, right? Well, every month or so your dealer will call out to new owners and invite them on a ride to a beach, a cool cafe or a pub for a meal and chin wag, usually on a Sunday. Ditch the deadbeats and make some new friends.

Harley-Heaven Events: https://www.harleyheaven.com.au/events

‘The [brand name] Owners Club’

These are typically well-organised clubs that have themed events for owners of a particular make eg Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Triumph etc (The writer is a member of the H-D club). Okay, they have committees and presidents and come with a bit of politics sometimes, but if you just want to be a fun member who likes a ride, that’s just fine too. Stitching all those badges on your leather vest is not mandatory BTW.

Harley-Davidson: https://www.harley-davidson.com/au/en/owners/hog.html

Triumph: https://tomcc.com.au/

Ducati: https://www.ducati.com/au/en/desmo-owners-club

‘The all-brands Club’

Come one, come all. The most prominent example is the Ulysses Club for owners over 40 years of age who live by the creed of ‘Growing old disgracefully’. Begun in Australia in 1983, it now has branches all over the world with a total membership of around 16,000. (The writer is also a member). These guys and gals love to ride the big ‘cruiser’ bikes and it’s common to see ‘mums and dads’ on big expensive machines with radios, side panniers and fancy paintwork. Smaller ‘social’ clubs also exist in regional areas and districts as well as universities and vocational networks.

Ulysses Club: https://www.ulyssesclub.org/

Sydney University Motorcycle Club: http://https//www.facebook.com/groups/SUMotoSoc/

RMIT (Melbourne): https://www.rusu.rmit.edu.au/Clubs/Motorcycles

The Weekend Crew

Yep, just like it sounds, a simple bunch of guys and girls who go for a ride with whoever can make it on whatever they’ve got. These ad hoc groups usually form among loose groups of friends and organise themselves on Facebook or other social media networks. Anyone can do it and mostly anyone can tag along. It’s a case of ‘more the merrier’. Ask around, you might be surprised who rides.

Outside of the riding groups mentioned above, motorcycle riders also like to ‘hang out’ and that’s where the term ‘cafe racers’ originated. A ‘cafe racer’ is a custom motorbike designed to ‘race’ around the streets from cafe to cafe where the riders can then ‘hang’, socialise and drink cappuccinos - or lattes.

The most famous of these cafes is the Ace Cafe in London (https://london.acecafe.com/) which began back in 1938 and is now opening up around the world including Beijing, Lahti, Lucerne, Barcelona and Orlando.

Every city has its own motorcycle cafe (or two) where you could infiltrate the scene and become part of the ‘gang’. Here are a couple of quick examples.

Sydney: Deus Cafe Camperdown. A hip bar and kitchen right on Parramatta Road. http://deuscustoms.com/cafes/camperdown/

Melbourne: Naked Racer Bar Café, Cheltenham. ‘bursting at the seams with live music and tapas ‘til late’. http://www.nakedracer.com.au/

Brisbane: Smoked Garage, Fortitude Valley. Classy bar and design space. https://www.smokedgarage.com.au/

Adelaide: Amberlight Motorcycle Cafe. A destination cafe in the Adelaide Hills. https://www.facebook.com/amberlight.motorcyclecafe/

And folks, remember that riding safely is a big part of the enjoyment. The fun stops pretty quickly when your leg is in plaster. Wear the best gear you can afford and don't take chances.

More about that: The Motorcycle Council of NSW http://www.mccofnsw.org.au/

Originally published at The Upsider

rodeimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13114562768626186868noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20331672.post-67047297677542041142023-01-12T21:38:00.005+11:002023-01-17T14:47:05.199+11:00New Year, New Harley

Harley-Heaven has made it easier with Low Rate Finance offer on these seven 2022 models.
