South Australia has secured a multi-year deal to host the Australian round of the FIM Superbike World Championship at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, with the first event scheduled for February 2028.
The Australian round of the FIM Superbike World Championship will relocate to Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend in South Australia from 2028 under a new multi-year agreement.
The event will join South Australia’s expanding motorsport calendar and is expected to attract thousands of interstate and international visitors when it debuts at the circuit in February 2028.
WorldSBK is one of the world’s leading motorcycle racing championships and features production-based machines from manufacturers including Ducati, Yamaha, Honda, BMW and Kawasaki. The heavily modified superbikes can reach speeds approaching 340 km/h.
The Bend managing director Sam Shahin said securing the championship represented a major milestone for the circuit, which opened in 2018.
“Securing WorldSBK is a significant achievement for The Bend and today’s announcement marks a historic day for motorsport and for South Australia,” Shahin said.
“From the outset, our vision has been to create a facility capable of attracting the world’s leading motorsport categories and hosting the highest levels of international competition.”
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said the event would strengthen the state’s position as a major Australian motorsport destination and deliver tourism and economic benefits, particularly for regional South Australia.
WorldSBK will join a portfolio that includes MotoGP, the Adelaide 500 and the AirTouch 500 Enduro.
“South Australia has built one of the strongest motorsport portfolios in the country,” Malinauskas said.
“From the world-class facilities at The Bend to the Adelaide street circuit, we are attracting premier events, passionate fans and global attention.”
WorldSBK Sporting Director Gregorio Lavilla said The Bend’s infrastructure and commitment to motorsport made it a strong future home for the Australian round.
“Australia has always held a special place within WorldSBK, and it remains an important market for our championship, manufacturers, teams and fans,” Lavilla said.
“The Bend is an impressive venue with exceptional facilities and a strong commitment to motorsport.”
Located at Tailem Bend, southeast of Adelaide, Shell V-Power Motorsport Park features multiple circuit configurations, accommodation and corporate facilities designed to support international competition.
Further event and ticketing details are expected to be released in coming months. Fans can register for updates through The Bend’s website.
